But True Image is not, so those users myself included will be out of luck if there are any incompatibility issues with Windows 10 once it is released. As a side not, I can inform you that Disk Director 11 is not compatible with Windows 8 and 8.
Up until recently, version 11 was the only version available. Acronis does not prioritize the Disk Director product as high as True Image. The Disk Director 11 installs on a Windows 8. It even runs! But it has some issues with these systems under the bonnet. Don\’t take my word for it, it was some time ago. But I know it did not work as expected with all partition or disk types. It\’s only recently that Acronis finally decided to release a version 12 of Disk Director. You can expect this kind of under-the-bonnet issues with True Image as well.
Merely being able to install a software on the system does not guarantee that it will be operating normally under all conditions. So it\’s best to make sure the software vendor lists that system as compatible, before you make a buying and migration decision.

I had to image my existing drive to an external drive USB , create a bootable Windows PE disc with the imaging software, install the new drive, boot into Windows PE and then restore the image from the image file.
Speed tests so far are phenomenal. Arbitrarily it is loading into Windows faster. Transferring of files seems snappier and encoding definitely is probably 2x faster. Now we all will eventually have to upgrade to this style anyway so I guess I have future proofed myself at this point. Toodles everyone.
Capacity: 1TB Verified Purchase. This drive is very fast and install was easy. This is down in the weeds a bit, but an important note is that it uses 4k byte sectors and has no byte emulation e. For clean installs, this should not be a problem. Cloning a hard drive is a problem, however, because you will need to have cloning software that can convert byte sectors to 4k sectors, and even then, the cloning software may not be able to convert the boot partition which happened to me , which will result in it being impossible to boot your computer.
Most modern hard drives have 4k physical sectors like this one but emulate byte sectors for compatibility purposes some programs still are only compatible with byte sectors. This drive does not emulate, which causes the above-mentioned issues. If doing a clean install of Windows, the drive should be fine and is very fast, but cloning did not work for me.
Be aware that there may be other compatibility issues with programs, however. As a side note, the lack of e may also affect the encryption and backup of your hard drive. Popular encryption software VeraCrypt only supports byte sectors, and I could not get Bitlocker to work properly after a clean install of Windows using this hard drive could have been user error, but I worked on it for a few hours.
I decided to send the drive back so I did not attempt to back up the hard drive, but it is also possible that the lack of e would also affect the ability to back up this hard drive to another hard drive with e, even if the backup drive has 4k physical sectors.
