HP Server Downgrade and Recovery Media

Labels Labels: Microsoft. All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. In response to nrousseau1. Thank you for your reply and advice to get the right consumption. We will try it. I bought a windows server OEM license through a re-seller who told it was possible to downgrade to use with a windows server After reading the \”downgrade rights\” document, I found the information to be true, but no indication on how to actually do it, so I tried calling Microsoft which proved to be a terrible experience, and after long wait times and being transferred several times from one department to another I was told that Microsoft does not provide support in this scenario and that I would have to seek the vendor, who said the same thing and pointed me towards Microsoft, again.

So far the information that I have is that it is possible to downgrade, but still have no idea on how to do it. The reseller should give you the activation key and media. You may need to ask for it, though. Windows Server has downgrade rights but if you purchase Retail or OEM licenses, you are on your own to find media and keys to activate.

The reseller is under no obligation to help you and Microsoft provides -zero- support for OEM licenses. If you purchase via Volume Licensing, Microsoft provides you with downgrade media and keys. After contacting the re-seller, he instructed me to make a clean installation of windows server and that there is an application to perform the downgrade.

He said he\’ll contact his line of support. Should activate fine as long as you don\’t make it a domain controller first. Do you have a key from a different Server license? You can use that to activate if so. Like Schmoo said, they\’re not obligated to provide a key. A lot of times they will if asked, but it\’s not a requirement.

AFAIK, no downgrade tool exists. You could approach this from a support side and maybe get results. Tell them you\’re having issues using the key to activate and that you\’re not able to find a tool to downgrade Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search.

This is a total contradiction to what is stated in all the License. Please refer to the FPP license terms for complete details. So where does everyone get the miss-information that you Can\’t apply Downgrade rights to Retail licenses?? Instead of creating, storing, and using the software, for each permitted instance, you may create, store, and use an earlier version of the following editions of the software for so long as Microsoft provides support for that earlier version as set forth in aka.

This agreement applies to your use of the earlier versions of the editions listed above. For the avoidance of doubt, by electing this downgrade option: i you will not have the right to create, store, or use a greater number of instances of the software than are permitted under this agreement, and ii you will need to acquire licenses for all cores in the physical server in accordance with Section 3 of this agreement.

If the earlier version includes different components not covered in this agreement, the terms that are associated with those components in the earlier version of these editions apply to your use of them. Neither the manufacturer or installer, nor Microsoft is obligated to supply earlier versions or other editions to you. Got the solution. But I tried it once more with the general KMS key and changed it later, that worked. You can google for the KMS Key.

That key is normally used with a key management system, a special server in your network. Therefore, that key is always accepted when installing and is later checked for validity. In our case, that key cannot be validated and so after reboot Windows is not activated. You can then provide a valid key and Windows gets activated.

Hi there — thanks for your guide. Hi We were able to complete these steps successfully. Just struggling to activate windows now… we get the following error code: 0xB. Alternatively, i have tried to clear the key with CMD and input a legitimate key for Server Standard and getting the following error code: 0xCE Changing both keys — done. Thanks for the tip! And what about moving an AD server from R2 datacenter to standard?

Is there any problem with the FSMO roles? Please refer to the Downgrade Rights information here to learn about options that can be fulfilled by Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Microsoft may update the processor requirements and the minimum hardware requirements for Windows Server operating system products as requirements change.

Is it possible to downgrade Windows Server Datacenter to Standard? – Server Fault.[SOLVED] How to downgrade a windows server license to use with windows server ?

Is it possible to downgrade a Windows Server Datacenter instance to Windows Server Standard? Edit: This was marked as a \”licensing question.\” In order to keep the question up, I have to make an edit explaining why it\’s not. My question has nothing to do . Apr 17,  · Hi community, we have an issue to optimize our Windows Server Standard license consumption, because the relevant setting for Downgrade Right is missing (from Standard Edition to former Enteprise Editions). Microsoft writes in their licensing guide for Windows Server Standard: \”If the customer has Windows Server Datacenter edition Estimated Reading Time: 3 mins. Jan 26,  · We had to downgrade the installed Windows Server data center to the standard edition to save money. A clean reinstallation of Windows Server was out of the question for us, as some roles are already configured and additional software with hardware-related licenses is installed on the server.
